Virgil van Dijk ‘picks next club’ as Liverpool captain ready to quit Anfield

star is reportedly keen to head to the MLS at the end of the season to play out the remainder of his career in the United States. The defender is in the final year of his contract at Anfield, and he could lead the club to glory before departing.

Van Dijk, and – three stalwarts on Merseyside – are all just a matter of months away from becoming free agents, with desperately attempting to retain the services of the trio.

However, any contract offers for Van Dijk look set to fall on deaf ears. According to , the defender is already weighing up his next move as he is keen to ‘enjoy one last adventure abroad’ before hanging up his boots.

The 33-year-old is said to have already received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal, but Van Dijk would prefer to head to the MLS at the end of the season instead as he is a ‘fan’ of the American culture.

Any move would also be viewed as the ‘exotic adventure’ that he is looking to cap off his career with. ’s , who will be a free agent this summer as well, is similarly hopeful of an MLS switch.
