Manchester United may have won a rare second consecutive football match on Sunday, but the club couldn’t escape being the subject of more mockery from a source they wouldn’t expect. Red Devils icon Patrice Evra has joined the new season of YouTube mega-group The Sidemen’s reality show ‘Inside’, which has launched on Netflix.
The Big Brother-style show sees a group of content creators live together for a few weeks and tasked with a series of challenges to ensure the £1million prize pot drops as little as possible. During episode one, Evra was a late arrival to the house alongside rapper DDG and wasted no time making a memorable comment about his football career. The Frenchman has started a new life as a social media influencer since his 2018 retirement and has shared just how much he wants to succeed.

As he entered the venue, Evra muttered to himself: “What have you got yourself in for, Patrice?”
And then, as he was introducing himself to the camera, the United great claimed that he would rather be remembered as a YouTuber than for his exploits at Old Trafford.
He said: “Hi, my name is Patrice Evra. I’m 43. I’m a former football player. Now, I’m a creator, entrepreneur, businessman, and I make people happy.
“I really want to be in YouTube and do great stuff, and I hope in maybe one year, people will say, ‘Oh, this is the YouTuber’.

“I would prefer them to say that, then they say, like, ‘He is the legend of Man United’ or whatever.”
Series narrator Stephen Tries was left in disbelief at Evra’s remark, educating the viewers of his achievements as a footballer.
“I can’t believe Manchester United are that bad that former players would rather be known as YouTubers,” the YouTube comedian reacted.
“Come on, Patrice… You’re a Champions League winner! A five-time Premier League champion! A three-time Italian champion! A France international! Everyone knows who you are.”
The latter sentence became a gag after DDG entered the room Evra was in and wasn’t aware who he was.
However, the left-back is a synonymous name among football fans after making 379 United appearances between 2006 and 2014.
Evra enjoyed a prolific trophy-winning career under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, lifting 14 pieces of silverware.
The 43-year-old also played for Marsala, Monza, Nice, Monaco, Juventus, and Marseille before finishing his career with a brief stint at West Ham United.
