defender Ayden Heaven offered optimism about his injury status after he was spotted walking out of the King Power Stadium unaided on Sunday night. Heaven conjured up a dominant display on his maiden start in the first half of United’s 3-0 win against before shortly after the break.

The 18-year-old-centre landed awkwardly after contending a cross with Leicester forward Patson Daka and immediately signalled to the bench that he had to come off. Concerns were rife when a stretcher was required to carry him down the tunnel, indicating that ‘s defensive injury curse would continue. But Heaven appears to be in a better condition than first feared after multiple reporters saw him leaving the stadium without needing crutches.

It’s claimed that the teenage talent, who joined from in a £1million deal in January, wore a protective boot but was walking without any support.

The update doesn’t mean Heaven is away scot-free, though, and it would be surprising if he wasn’t set for a spell on the sidelines after the international break.

After the final whistle, on the Englishman’s status, claiming he couldn’t identify the specific issue immediately due to his inexperience.

“I don’t know, I don’t know. It’s hard to know because we have to evaluate during the week,” the United boss told Sky Sports.

“And also, because he’s a young kid, he doesn’t know how to explain, and that makes it a little bit hard to understand how he’s feeling.”

However, the Portuguese tactician joined the masses of spectators in praising Heaven’s performance alongside and Victor Lindelof.

The eye-catching outing followed up his United debut against his former club a week earlier before his first senior start against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Amorim added: “He already did [play well] against before today and against Real Sociedad.

“Today was, for me, the most difficult game for him because he played so well against Real Sociedad, and we always expect these young kids to relax a little bit.

“But he was so focused, and he played quite well. So let’s hope for the best.”

There will be frustration about the timing of the March international break at United, given Amorim’s side have picked up a bit of steam in recent weeks.

However, the two-week hiatus will allow more opportunity for Heaven to recover and feature in the run-in.
