has discovered her opponent for the first round of the Miami Open as faces a tough test later in the tournament with in her sights. The British pair have already arrived in Florida to prepare the WTA 1000 event, which begins on Tuesday, as they aim to become the first UK players since Johanna Konta in 2017 to claim the title in the Sunshine State. Raducanu has been handed a fairly straightforward task against 19-year-old qualifier Sayaka Ishii, who is ranked 212th in the world and is enjoying her rookie year on the WTA Tour.

American eighth-seed Emma Navarro lies in wait in the next round should Raducanu go one better than her performance in California and make it to the next stage. The 22-year-old has been a favourable draw, keeping her away from any potentially challenging showdowns until the round of 16, where Jessica Pegula may be waiting for her.

Boulter, meanwhile, takes on the American home favourite Peyton Stearns, who achieved a career-best finish of reaching the fourth round of the US Open in 2023. She also made it to the second round in Miami in 2024. But Boulter will have some confidence based on her last performance at the event, having gone as far as the fourth round last year.

However, she is on track to face the world No. 2 Swiatek at the round of 32 stage if she beats Stearns, which could prove to be a difficult test for the 28-year-old. Boulter would first have to beat Elise Mertens before she is likely to meet Swiatek, who has been given a bye and enters in the second round.

Both Brits will have a point to prove after disappointing exits from Indian Wells last week. Raducanu was dumped out in the first round by Moyuka Uchijima losing 6-3, 6-2, while Boulter went one step further and made it to round two, but the world No. 38 proved to be no match for Elena Rybakina.

Defending champion Danielle Collins, world No. 1 and French Open champion are among the 32 seeded players to receive a bye along with Swiatek.
