presenter skewered with just one statement as she appeared on Sunday with . When asked by the presenter on her thoughts about Starmer’s discussions to engage the military to help facilitate peace between and , Susanna replied: “There is no doubt that he has developed a reputation as somebody who can operate very effectively on the international stage.

“But the thing is if you ask people on their doorsteps, of course they want to back but at what price? Susanna went on to say: “We had a charity talking to us on the programme this week saying if you have a disablity that it can cost you an extra £1000 a month simply to live your life. And so the anxiety that has been triggered by all of those sources and briefings have been enormous.

“People with terminal cancer wondering if their PIP payments are going to be frozen or cut, people with cerebral palsy, people with bipolar, with chronic mental health conditions, and I think a government, a Labour government, should come out to say ‘these are the people that don’t need to worry’.”

Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, as one said: ” producers of #bbclaurak inviting on the panel this morning revealed how lacking Laura Kuenssberg really is! Reid showed a far better understanding of the issues & when asked for her views, schooled Kuenssberg on the questions she could & should have asked!”

Another agreed: “Susanna being spot on in how we need to define what constitutes a labour movement.”

A third chimed in: ” is spot on, people who have a disability have added cost in their life, why should they be punished for that.”

Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg airs on Sundays with 9am on BBC1.
