One island has been dubbed the ‘most underrated’ holiday destination in the UK. Highlighting the beauty of the Isle of Wight, one social media influencer has shared some tips for spending the weekend on this stunning island.

Sharing a clip of their visit on , travel influencer @the.wanderlust.blonde labelled the Isle of Wight as the most underrated holiday destination in England. Speaking in the video, she said: “It’s located only two hours away from London and it’s full of beautiful beaches. You can get there by ferry or by hovercraft in 10 minutes.”

Highlighting some of the best attractions to visit, Jenny recommended starting with the Needles boat tour and chairlift and then making a beeline to the beautiful villages of Shanklin Old Village and Godshill. She also suggests checking out Shankine chine, a tree-lined gorge with a waterfall.

There are plenty of more things to do on the Isle of Wight including visiting some of the island’s stunning beaches.

Tripadvisor lists Ryde Beach as the island’s top beach, with one visitor writing: “Had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine at Ryde Beach. Lovely destination, not too busy and very relaxing. The beachfront cafes were lovely, clean and welcoming. Will definitely come back again.”

Another added: “Visited for the first time! Lovely clean beach with a lot of seashells for kids to collect! There were rentable beach equipment, chairs, umbrellas, wind breakers etc! Also an arcade, Superbowl, several icecream shops and cafe’s!”

While a third penned: “The beach has lovely soft sand and when the tide is out, you can walk very far out. The beach is right next to where the ferry and train station are, so easily accessible. There are lots of restaurants, pubs, shops and public toilets. It was nice to sit and relax and watch the boats and hovercraft.”

Another must-visit location is Osborne House, a favourite retreat of Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert.

The royal couple bought and built Osborne House to fulfil the queen’s desire for a “place of one’s own — quiet and retired” away from the general public.

History buffs should also visit Carisbrooke Castle, which began life as an Anglo-Saxon fortress to defend against Viking raids. It has since become famous as the destination where King Charles I was imprisoned following his defeat in the English Civil War.
