Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run collision in Vancouver’s Fairview neighbourhood

Police say a man in his 50s was standing on West 12th Avenue when he collapsed on the road and was struck by an approaching vehicle.

A pedestrian died Friday in a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle in Vancouver’s Fairview neighbourhood.

Vancouver police say a man in his 50s was standing on the south side of West 12th Avenue near Hemlock Street just after 10 p.m.

Investigators believe the man collapsed on the road and was struck by an approaching vehicle travelling east on West 12th. He died after being hit by the car.

The driver did not stop and has not been located, police said in a news release Saturday morning.

VPD’s collision investigation unit is canvassing the neighbourhood for evidence. Witnesses, or anyone with security or dashcam video, is asked to call 604-717-3012 or email [email protected].
