James Martin assures chef he’s ‘only joking’ after she’s left red-faced by ‘mistake’

insisted that he was “only joking” when a chef kept making a “mistake” and went red-faced.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning continued on Saturday, 15th March, where the titular chef was joined by the likes of fellow cooks Ryan and Liam Simpson-Trotman, Sabrina Gidda, Tony Singh and The Supervet star Noel Fitzpatrick.

Each of the guest chefs took it in turns to join James in the kitchen with Sabrina being the last to show off her culinary skills as she cooked up a delicious white veal ragu dish with Tarragon Pangrattato.

Throughout her segment though, Sabrina couldn’t stop calling James “chef” which he poked fun at her for.

So much so that he started joking that he would charge her every time she referred to him as “chef” and put it towards a meal at Ryan and Liam’s Orwells Restaurant.

When asked if he should add pasta water to the dish, she replied: “Yes please chef”, with him pointing out “£70”, much to her annoyance as Sabrina groaned.

He teased: “I’ve got a starter and a main course so far, by the end of this I’ll get pudding at his restaurant.”

Liam teasingly chipped in: “He only needs £5 more!”, causing the rest of the guests to laugh.

Sabrina admitted: “I mean, I’m having a mare. I’m going to cut you a deal, if I do it one more time, could we just put the money into the marathon pot?”, as the chef will be running this year’s London Marathon for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

James agreed before focus went back onto cooking the meal and he asked if he should move the pasta from the frying pan and into the bowl.

Much to her own annoyance, she began to say “yes please chef” once again before stopping herself.

James threw his arm up in the air in a victory stance as he joked: “That was a fiver’s worth weren’t it!”

Defending herself, Sabrina said it was a “ch-” rather than “chef” with James teasing: “Could be construed that you meant something else there”.

Unsure of what to say at this remark, the chef said: “Honestly, I just can’t help it.”

Seeing that she was red-faced, James briefly placed a comforting hand on Sabrina’s arm and reassured her: “I’m only joking.”

The pair finished off the dish but when she did still call him “chef”, no more jokes were made by James.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning continues every Saturday at 10am on ITV and ITVX.
