BBC Breakast’s Charlie Stayt ‘mocked’ as he ‘spots’ image in weather backdrop

’s Charlie Stayt accused the show’s crew and his own co-star of “mocking” him when he saw something peculiar during the weather segment.

was joined by presenter Sarah Campbell this morning, Saturday, 15th March, on the iconic red sofa to talk viewers through the latest news around the world.

It was just after 9am though that Charlie, who has been presenting the morning news show since 2006, commented that his colleagues were “mocking” him.

Following a segment talking about astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams finally heading home after being stuck in space since in June, Sarah commented: “Good luck to them.

“It’s going to be strange for them to be back on planet Earth.”

Charlie then moved his attention to weatherman Matt Taylor who had a beautiful snowy backdrop behind him which was taken in northeast Scotland around Moray.

However, it wasn’t the photograph’s beauty that Charlie was focussed on: “Other strange things happen Matt [Taylor], including, just to your left shoulder, they’ve been mocking me here, because I can see a dog.”

Sarah could be heard laughing as a puzzled-looking Matt tried to find what his co-star was talking about.

Charlie continued: “A little dog in the snow. Not a little dog but in the promontory that sticks out.

“See its ears and the nose and the legs beneath it.”

Matt then pointed at a section of the photograph and questioned: “That bit there?”

Charlie excitedly exclaimed: “Yeah that’s it there! It looks exactly like a dog, doesn’t it?”

Still staring at the image, Matt hesitated before saying: “I can kind of see it.”

“He can’t see it, can he? He’s pretending now,” a deflated Charlie stated with Matt laughing “No”.

Sarah then pushed: “Just move on. Give us the weather,” with Matt getting back to telling viewers what the weather is going to look like in the coming days.

Charlie is usually joined by his co-star who hosts Breakfast Thursday to Saturday but as of yet, no reason has been given for her absence as of yet.

Breakfast is available to watch every day at 6am on One and iPlayer.
