has recently spoken out about the “pressure” he feels being a member of his famous family, candidly admitting that there are days when he simply doesn’t “care”. While chatting on their podcast, FFS! My dad Is , Roman opened up to his dad about feeling “stressed” and sometimes wanting to “turn everything off”. The discussion turned deep as Roman considered the idea of retiring, a concept which his father Martin believed was beyond him.

During the heart-to-heart, Roman admitted: “I do think there is a pressure within our family; we have to keep going and keep going”, reports Wales Online. Martin curiously probed, “Where does that pressure come from then?” Roman revealed the unexpected answer, leaving his dad in disbelief: “You.” A perplexed Martin responded: “From me? Why me? You’ve got a great work ethic. Is work ethic…is that another way of saying you work your b***s off?”. But Roman was quick to differentiate: “Good work ethic isn’t you working your b******s off. It’s about a balance between work and life split whilst maintaining drive.”

He mused over the struggle to keep ambition alive without losing oneself: “Can you maintain drive and ambition alongside being true to yourself and understanding who you are? I struggle with that massively because I just…honestly, I just run myself into a moment where I’m like, ‘I don’t care anymore. I don’t care. Like, sack it all off’.”

In response to Martin’s suggestion to take a day off, Roman confessed his fear of disappointing others made the prospect unbearable.

The One Show’s cherished host has bravely disclosed his mental health struggles, detailing in the moving documentary Our Silent Emergency that he once nearly took his own life.

Roman Kemp, now 32, last year shared a significant personal achievement: stopping the use of antidepressants for the first time since his teenage years. He explained that embarking on this new chapter is about “understanding what [his] emotional side” really means.

He added: “I’m neither for or against taking anti-depressants, I’m about what is right for YOU and if it helps you then go for it.”

Moreover, Roman has recognised the vital role his medication has played in helping him navigate tough times. The ex-Capital Breakfast presenter has praised it for aiding him “through a long period of mental struggle”.

His candour doesn’t stop there; on social media, he shares his journey to help others who might be apprehensive about “anyone was ever worried about starting/stopping” their own treatment.
