Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to spend it than with a fresh-feeling walk on the coast. In particular, the 4.5-mile amble from Charmouth to Lyme Regis, following the South West Coast Path, offers everything you need for a spectacular April walk: stunning views of flourishing flowers on one side, the on the other.

Keep an eye out for a sea of bluebells on the sloped woodland known locally as the Spittles. As spring arrives, they pop out, turning the ground a bright purple. You don’t need to follow the South West Coast Path the whole journey, as its spilts off and criss-crosses with other smaller paths at several points. When you get to Lyme Regis, if you have any energy left, there is plenty to do and see.
