Unbeknownst to me, black was flourishing right under my nose. One quiet night in, I was shifting some pots from the bottom of a shelving unit when a jet black mass of mould in the corner of the wall revealed itself.
Hidden in plain sight was a mushroom cloud of mould shooting up from the baseboard, its speckles and thick plume spanning about three feet. The mass was so dark and expansive I involuntarily shuddered in disgust. And mixed in with the horror was worry – how on earth could I it and save my deposit?

Here’s how I cleaned black mould off the walls (Image: Ketsuda Phoutinane)
I discovered from the fountain of knowledge that are followers’ Facebook groups. Its reputation for eviscerating the worst mould preceded it, and all for .
It worked like magic on some truly abominable mould in my bathroom sealant. A light dusting of spray and the mould dripped away in seconds, though a light tinge remained on the worst bits.
So if there was a product in my arsenal up to the challenge, this was it.
A word of warning though: the bleach fumes of this spray will make your head spin. It’s so strong I make sure to keep my asthmatic husband well away.
I gathered just a few other supplies: rubber gloves, a surgical mask, and paper towels. Luckily, it was one of those perfectly mild, sunny spring days where throwing open the windows is an absolute must.

Black mould was climbing the walls – 1 spray erased it all (Image: Ketsuda Phoutinane)
Shockingly, the spray was so effective I only got through 10 minutes of my podcast – including the time it took to take pictures.
In order to reduce paint damage, I opted to spray a paper towel then wipe the wall. One swipe at the edge of the sprawling mould and I removed it like it was never there.
The most impressive result was how easily I was able to wipe away the solid area of soot-black mould at the centre of the growth. With just a couple of spritzes on a paper towel, it effectively erased all traces of the fungus.
It removed three feet of mould on the wall quite easily – and thankfully, the paint was no worse for wear.
