Sam Burns has confessed to being “scared” when meeting First Lady , describing her as “very intimidating” after a golf outing with President . The 28-year-old golf star , with five wins under his belt, was given the opportunity to play golf with Trump before joining him for a dinner at the prestigious Mar-A-Lago in Florida, along with Melania and their guests.
Sharing his thoughts on show, Burns said: “The coolest was meeting the First Lady. She is legit. Very intimidating.” He openly admitted his reluctance to engage with her, stating: “Would not want to mess with her. I was very scared to talk to her. I just introduced myself and said hello. That was pretty much it.”
Burns also shed light on what the experience was like, dining with prominent figures like the President and . He described Trump as someone who lives up to his public persona: “People ask, ‘what’s he like?’ He’s exactly how you’d think he would be. He’s exactly what you see on TV, brutally honest.
“He’s very open, you can pretty much ask him anything. And he loves golf. He has some really funny stories, so it’s pretty cool to listen to. I asked him some stuff. I wasn’t sure if he would answer or not, but he did.”
Burns has opened up about the intense security that comes with playing a round of golf with President Trump, saying there’s a plethora of security on site. He described the experience: “On any hole, there’s close to 20 carts.

“If you’re paying attention and looking, you’ll see snipers, secret service everywhere. It’s funny, [because] I don’t know if this is the safest place or the most dangerous place in the world to be. I think it’s kind of both at the same time.”
As Burns readies himself for another shot at glory at TPC Sawgrass this week alongside his close friend , both are gunning for success at the Players Championship.
Burns, still on the hunt for his first PGA Tour win in 2025 after participating in six events, secured his best finish as T8 at The Sentry this January, with his last victory being the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
