People are only just realising what a feature in their car is actually for – after wonder for years about a mysterious “gap”.

Many of us use our cars a lot throughout the week, some every day, so you would think that we get to know our vehicles pretty well.

However, if you only ever drive your own car, and rarely have people ride with you, their may be features in the passenger seats that you had no idea about.

People have been left stunned after just realising what the meaning of a feature in the front seat passenger door means. It comes after one individual posted a picture on showing a “gap” below the window button, which appears to have no feature.

The individual, who has a Ford Fiesta, said: “What is this bit in the passenger door for?”

Hundreds rushed to comment, and one individual explained the reason for the empty space. They said: “It is an empty space for window controls. The trim is mirrored in the other doors. If it was the driver side, it would be filled with controls.”

Commenting in agreement, one other said: “It’s just for storage, the ribbed texture helps things stop sliding around. It has no real purpose i guess other than just a way to hide where the window controls would be if it was the opposite hand drive.”

“It is for what ever is in that spot on the driver’s door when they make the left hand drive model,” noted another. One other explained: “It’s just for storage, the ribbed texture helps things stop sliding around. It has no real purpose i guess other than just a way to hide where the window controls would be if it was the opposite hand drive.”

Car users, who have only just realised why the empty space is there, have shared what they have been using it for.

“It’s for your vape,” joked one. One other said they put a bottle of hand sanitizer in the gap as it “fits perfectly”.

A fast food fan wrote: “They’re ideal for stacking McDonald’s dip pots so you can roll down the road at (speed limit here) dipping a 20-bit into random sauces, or lots of the same sauce if that’s your thing.” “For your McD’s dips,” agreed another.

“Fun size Mars bar holder,” wrote another. One said they put an air freshener in the space, while another said they store sweets in it. One other said they put a pound coin in there, ready for when they need it for their supermarket trolley.
