Eagle-eyed fans spot something missing from Princess Kate’s £30,000 pearl earrings

She accessorised her vibrant red look with a beautiful pair of Collingwood Pearl Drop earrings, which are . They are timeless but equally versatile, which is no doubt why she has worn them to a variety of events. The earrings feature a round diamond stud suspended from a bell clasp set by a stunning pearl drop. Collingwood completed the dazzling design by adorning the pearl with three rows of small diamonds.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that one earring appeared to be missing a small silver diamond. It was absent from the top row of diamonds, which consisted of four gemstones. It is thought that gifted these earrings to Princess Kate, after he inherited the jewels from his mother, . The late royal wore them on countless occasions and famously paired them with her iconic black revenge dress, which she wore to a gala at the Serpentine, London, in 1994.

The earrings, as they were for Diana, have become a go-to for Kate. Not only because she is a huge fan of pearls but she has been snapped wearing them on many poignant occasions including her 40th birthday portraits.

It was an especially important engagement for the princess to attend the Commonwealth service because she was forced to cancel her appearance last year following her cancer diagnosis.

Her striking red coat dress by Catherine Walker caused many heads to turn as it featured a large bow embellishment on the neckline and large buttons down the front.

She paired this with a matching hat by Gina Foster which also drew attention, but her choice of necklace also added a special touch to the day.

Princess Kate completed her look by wearing the four-row Japanese pearl choker necklace that was owned by Queen Elizabeth II.

Kate previously wore the necklace to the late monarch’s funeral in 2022. The stunning piece is understood to be worth thousands of pounds and is one of the most expensive necklaces Kate has ever borrowed from the late Queen.

The dazzling design was also loved by Princess Diana and she wore the necklace during one of her very first engagements as a royal. Queen Elizabeth commissioned the Four-strand pearl and diamond choker from Garrards using pearls gifted to her from Japan.
