Si King of the Hairy Bikers made a touching revelation about his best friend and co-star Dave Myers, lamenting, “It’s the last of the Hairy Bikers.”
In a poignant interview on Good Morning Britain this Friday (March 14), Si joined presenters Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder to discuss his most recent endeavour with Dave. The dynamic duo, known for their myriad of TV appearances and cookbook releases as the Hairy Bikers, have reached the end of an era, with Si unveiling their ultimate publication, The Best of the Hairy Bikers.
An emotional Si disclosed to GMB viewers, “It’s the last of Hairy Bikers publishing book because Dave is no longer with us.”
He reflected on the blending of comfort found in food and the deeply personal journey through grief, saying: “I was saying yesterday that it’s interesting when you’re putting a book together because food is comfort, and grief is a very interesting emotion. It’s as individual as the person who feels it,” reports .
Compiling the book wasn’t easy, the TV star acknowledged: “It was a very tough book to put together, I have to say, because the team and I have been working together for 20 years, so it was a wonderful experience. We’ve all had a few tears and laughs about what Dave would think of this, it was a lovely process.”

Moved by his candor, Kate shared her own experiences of bereavement spurred by the recent loss of her husband, Derek Draper.
She mused on GMB: “Grief isn’t linear, is it? We talk a lot, don’t we, about the stages of grief, and you go back and forth with it. I find often one of the triggers because Dave sadly passed away not long after my husband.”
Discussing the sensory triggers of grief, Kate asked: “You and I have talked about this together, but one of the triggers is actually smells, sights, and sounds. Do you find yourself, when you’re making a that you devised together, just having a little moment and thought of him?”

Si acknowledged the enduring bond with his late friend, stating: “You know Kate, I’ve often said just because Dave’s passed doesn’t necessarily mean he stops being my best friend.”
Reflecting on their shared television adventures, he remarked: “I think we just wanted people to get back into the kitchen and give it a go because the world has put so much pressure on families, and everyone was trying to do everything.”
He concluded with an encouraging message: “What we were saying is that if we can do it in the middle of a ditch, then you guys can do it in a fitted kitchen at home.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
