For those in search for a Santorini-style holiday, the climb up to Altea’s old town offers similar panoramic views of the coastline and spectacular sunsets, reports .

The Church of Our Lady of Consolation (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo) is a landmark with its iconic blue-tiled dome.
And its coastline features pebble beaches with crystal-clear waters—great for swimming and relaxing.
The nearby Sierra de Bernia mountains offer fantastic hiking and panoramic views.
Close to Altea, the Algar Waterfalls and the Penyal d’Ifac Natural Park in Calpe are great for nature lovers.

“This town is on the Mediterranean on the Costa Blanca near Alicante. We got up early and walked along the promenade towards Albir. The sunrise was amazing and there were people paddling in the sea.
“When we got to Albir we walked up to the Sierra Gelada Natural Park and took one of the listed paths up the mountain. It is a bit of a climb but the views are stunning!”
A second person commented: “We took a day trip by bus from Benidorm which was very cheap 1.60 Euros. Altea was a pleasure to visit, tempting enough to go back to stay there.
“Following the streets climbing upwards we found the church, a plaza and plenty of attractive bars and restaurants with a fabulous view.
“As others point out the beach is pebbly but if that doesn’t worry you then this is a (quieter than Benidorm) lovely place to visit.”
