Highlander star Christopher Lambert hospitalised after ‘stair fall causes back injury’

Christopher Lambert, 67, is reportedly on the mend after a recent tumble down the stairs caused him significant injury. The veteran actor, celebrated for his iconic roles in The Legend of Tarzan and Highlander, is said to have suffered a ‘fall’ months ago that necessitated urgent medical attention. Fortunately, while in hospital, it was confirmed that he had only sustained a back injury.

Now in recovery, Lambert faces a period of rehabilitation. According to his representative Lucas Confortini speaking to TMZ, the unfortunate mishap occurred when Lambert tripped descending a hotel staircase. As a result, he has since been undergoing physical therapy for his back.

Despite this setback, Lambert’s career momentum continues with his upcoming venture, ‘Tulipomania’, slated for filming commencement next week. However, it remains to be seen how his recent injury might impact production schedules, reports .

Moreover, he was gearing up to promote an impending docuseries named ‘Eyes Everywhere’ directed by Simona Calo and also featuring the talents of Fortunato Cerlino, Francesca Inaudi, and Dean Michael Gregory as listed on IMDB.

Lambert had also planned to grace Swedish festival SciFiWorld this weekend, but event organisers have revealed via Facebook that he has had to withdraw his appearance.

His rep disclosed: “As an actor, filming and promoting his films are an absolute priority and has always been, and while he has the highest respect for people organizing events and fans who attend; unfortunately this time he will not be able to attend the comic con.”

The original ‘Highlander’ was released in 1986 and starred Christopher as Connor MacLeod and followed the Scottish swordsman who discovers he is immortal before finding himself in a battle across centuries with other born immortals, including the evil Kurgan.

With a newly rebooted ‘Highlander’ set to release at some point in 2026, the director revealed principal photography was due to commence “by Spring” next year.

Director Chad Stahelski convinced Henry Cavill to sign on to the action movie by pitching the historic nature of the story.

The 56-year-old filmmaker is helming the franchise’s reboot and revealed he managed to win over the actor, 41, by pitching the project as a martial arts-focused flick that centered around an intense character arc for Scottish swordsman MacLeod.
