But don’t rush out to buy pricey descalers or harsh chemicals – there’s a simple fix using a household ingredient that you probably already have in your cupboard. swear by this easy trick to banish stubborn buildup and keep your shower head looking and working like new. He said: “The simplest and safest way to banish from your shower head is with a household essential you probably already have in your home – soap.
“Just fill a bowl or sink with warm water, add a teaspoon of washing up liquid or lather up with a bar of soap, submerge the shower head for a couple of minutes and gently wipe away grime with a soft cloth.”
Tesco Essentials Soap can be brought from the UK supermarket giant for as little as 30p.
Brown said there is no need for pricey cleaning products or harsh chemicals and that the simple tip will remove surface buildup without damaging the finish of your shower head.
He added: “Avoid abrasive sponges or strong chemicals, as they can wear down the surface and even invalidate your shower’s guarantee.”

Another tip from the expert is to dry your head after every use if possible, which will prevent limescale from forming in the first place.
He said: “A quick wipe with a soft cloth will prevent watermarks and settling in – preventing the problem before it even becomes one.”
If you live in an area with hard water, you should clean more frequently – this includes in the Southeast, London, the Midlands or the East of England.
A weekly shower head in these areas will help to maintain shower performance – cleaning little and often will ensure your shower continues to look sparkling clean and run smoothly.
