Thankfully, one cleaning expert has shared an easy way to access that space and clean it without having to remove the entire oven.
A user who goes by the name @cleanthatup on posted a video showing an easy method for quickly cleaning between the oven and countertop. The method involves wiping away dirt from the spot in a matter of seconds using an item that every kitchen is sure to have.
In the video, they showed him wrapping a butter knife with a microfibre cloth to get in between the tight gap and remove any dirt leftover from cooking.
He said: “I like to do this about once a week and I really notice that it helps pull out that extra grease and grime between there and keeps the area nice and clean.”
Thanks to its size, the common kitchen utensil can easily get into the space and drag any built-up grease and dirt out, making it an easy chore that can be done daily or weekly.
In the video, the cleaning creator advises using a damp cloth or towel around the knife to ensure any grease or dirt sticks to it.
One user called JPiccolo commented, “I like this tip! I have a small basting brush that I use solely for this purpose, and it also works quite well.”
The creator also recommends spraying “a little bit of degreaser” onto the cloth to help get rid of especially tough grease and dirt build-up.
Morrisons stocks Cilit Bang degreaser for £3.65, or Kilrock is available to buy on Ocado for £3.50, while Tesco’s Elbow Grease Degreaser is sold for £1.20.
