Homebase has issued a message to customers following a wave of this year.
The fell into administration in November last year, blaming a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic for its collapse. The chain later – which owns The Range – which saved 70 of its stores and around 1,600 jobs, while B&Q also agreed to take control of five branches. The former Homebase sites in Altrincham, Basingstoke, Biggleswade, Leamington Spa and Worcester are due to be converted into B&Q stores this spring.
Earlier this month it was also announced that four former Homebase stores will be transformed into Wickes. The stores – based in Dunfermline, Bury St Edmunds, Leeds Moor Allerton and Northampton – will reopen later in the year under the Wickes brand, serving catchment areas that don’t currently benefit from a store.
Despite a string of closures, the Homebase brand isn’t disappearing for good as the retailer has now opened 24 “new and exclusive” ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ inside The Range Superstores, with more due to follow later this month and in April.
The retailer is also still available to customers online at Homebase.co.uk where shoppers can snap up gardening supplies, furniture, kitchens and home decorating items.
In a new message to customers, Homebase has confirmed an update to its privacy notice as it reminded shoppers that it’s “still open”.
In an email, the retailer wrote: “We’re still open with everything to make your home and garden brighter.
“An update for our customers: CDS (Superstores International) Ltd (Trading as The Range) has recently acquired the Homebase brand.
