Ferrari debutant is one of the most successful drivers in history – but he’s still willing to adapt in pursuit of glory. The Briton is set to make his bow in Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix at the age of 40, but it seems old dogs can learn new tricks.
Hamilton’s methods have helped him win seven world championships over the course of a career spanning nearly 20 years. He won his maiden title in just his second F1 season at in 2008 before adding another six to his collection at . Pre-season testing has suggested the former will be a major player this season, while looks to make strides with a legend of the sport now partnering . And Hamilton has revealed the lengths he has gone to since arriving at Maranello in order to give himself the best chance at success.
“I don’t really read the news, and I go for long periods of time without social media, so I’m not bombarded with social media,” he told . “I live in my own little bubble there. I’m back at kind of square one.”
Revealing his different approach now compared to through his career to date, he continued: “I’ve been giving absolutely everything to training, to push my mind and my body further than I have before, trying to see if I can excel and just squeeze more juice out of this.
“I’m under no assumptions that it will be easy. It’s not. But I don’t feel the pressure. The outside pressure is non-existent for me. The pressure is with from within, what I want to achieve.”

Hamilton went on to insist he’s not at “to prove anything to anybody,” referring to the experience he has built over time as a comfort. That’s precisely the kind of self-assuredness one would expect of arguably the greatest talent in motorsport, after all.
There’s a certain poetry to the fact he could finally break ‘s joint-world championship record at the German’s most iconic team. And Hamilton said he believed “deserve success” before sending a message of caution – one that applies to himself and his new team.
“Inevitably, there is a transition period and there is a foundation that’s needed to be built,” Hamilton admitted, showing how it may not be smooth sailing from day one.

“That’s what we’ve been doing over the past couple of months and the first half of the season really is kind of that foundation, building those relationships, the trust you’re building with absolutely every single person within the team that you get to work in.
“It’s not something you just step into in the door. Trust and respect; while respect is given, trust is something that is built over time.”
The powers that be at have done their utmost until now to assure that relationship is as strong as possible – at least from the outside. But this weekend’s work will give the strongest indicator yet as to just how successful those efforts have been.
