has previously quashed rumours that he’s on his last leg, reassuring fans that he’s very much alive and kicking. The 80-year-old British rock legend had to axe a trio of concerts in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Lincoln, California, last summer due to strep throat complications and a positive test. In a dramatic turn of phrase that alarmed his supporters, Stewart alluded to a grim prognosis as he put his performances on hold, stating his “days were numbered” during recovery time.
Rod broke the news of his health woes just before his highly anticipated 200th Vegas gig, regretfully telling fans: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully, we’ll now be returning in 2025, and I hope to see you all there.”
However, it seems Sir Rod’s stark admission led to unnecessary distress among his fanbase, prompting him to clarify his comments in The Sun: “When I said ‘My days are numbered,’ it was purely in jest. Aren’t everybody’s days numbered? I am in embarrassingly wonderful health and enjoying life to the full. I am not dying as far as I know.”
The star also revealed his ambitious pursuit of a fitness record, aiming to sprint 100 metres within 18 seconds. Stewart shares he’s rigorously preparing for the feat by regularly training in his personal sports facilities, complete with a football field, gym, and swimming pool, reports .

Speaking with The Sun recently, Rod confessed he plans to maintain his lively social life into his twilight years. “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” he proclaimed.
“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
Despite being a cancer survivor, facing both prostate and thyroid battles, the father of eight admits he’s far more health-conscious nowadays.
Sir Rod will play Glastonbury’s Legends slot this year. At the time of the announcement, he declared he is “proud, ready, and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury” next summer.
