For the past week, Kelly Clarkson’s fans have been curious about the singer’s whereabouts as she’s been noticeably absent from “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Clarkson’s break from her talk show began at the start of the month. On Feb. 28, comedian Roy Wood Jr. appeared when the episode started and informed viewers he was leading the show as a guest host.
“Today, I’m up early with y’all at 30 Rock to fill in for Kelly and I’m also trying to take Lester Holt’s old job at the anchor desk,” he joked, without providing more details. Wood was previously tapped to host during an episode in October 2024.
Then on March 3, Marvel star Simu Liu was asked to host. “Welcome to the ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’!” he said. “Wow, before we get started I do have a confession to make. I am not Kelly Clarkson. I know this may shock many of you but Kelly actually isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best.”
He also said that he didn’t know he would serve as host until about five minutes prior, when he arrived on set to promote his new movie, “Last Breath.” Liu added that he had some experience as he stepped in about three years ago to host.
Clarkson returned for the next couple of episodes before again stepping away for an extended period of time. On March 6, Wood acted as guest host, again.
“Kelly’s out for the day, but please don’t worry. I’m back as guest host. You’re in good hands,” he said.
Since then, Wanda Sykes and Brooke Shields have hosted. Then on March 12, TODAY’s Willie Geist had his turn.
To start Wednesday’s show, Willie, who will turn 50 in May, read off a list of things he hoped to accomplish by that age. On the list? Marry his high school sweetheart, Christina, compete in a lip sync battle and “guest host a talk show normally hosted by the winner of a national singing competition.”
“Oddly specific… but now I get to cross that out,” Willie joked.
Model and actor Molly Sims is expected to step in for the rest of the week.

The “Breakaway” singer has not posted about her time away from her show on social media. Her last Instagram post on Feb. 17 encouraged fans to buy tickets to her upcoming concerts in Atlantic City.
When the official Instagram for “The Kelly Clarkson Show” posted the list of guest hosts earlier this week, fans wondered about Clarkson’s whereabouts in the comments.
“When will kelly be back,” one asked.
Another said, “We don’t need to know her business but need to know she is ok please.”
“A great lineup,” one fan commented. “Have missed Kelly on the show recently, hope she is well and enjoying her well deserved break.”
