Mr Denyer told that when you cut the bottoms of daffodil stems, they release a ‘sticky sap’ which is toxic to both plants and humans.
He has advised people to wear gloves while handling the daffodils in order to avoid skin irritation or a rash.
Due to its soft stem, daffodils should ideally be cut straight across the stem rather than at a 45-degree angle, Mr Denyer explained.
He said: “While daffodils look stunning in their own right, pairing them with other blooms can instantly uplift a room and add depth to your bouquet.

“To achieve this, simply let your freshly cut daffodils sit in water for a few hours to allow the sap to drain before incorporating them into an arrangement with other flowers. It’s as simple as that!”.
According to the expert, once you finish this step then there is no need to separate your daffodils every time you trim the stems or refresh the water in your bouquet
He added: “The first round of draining and isolation should suffice.”
