Cooking a fried may seem incredibly easy, but it turns out they taste much better if you cover them. Paul Phillips, a cook and founder of , has shared that fried eggs are much tastier if you steam them instead of just frying them.

He said, “This is my method for the best fried egg, and it involves steaming them in their own glass dome. Soft but set whites with cooked but runny yolks. Perfect.” Steaming may seem unusual, but it helps retain moisture around the egg, which keeps the yolk runny and the whites soft without the risk of them burning.

Most people cook fried eggs on a high heat, which risks overcooking them, making the whites rubbery and the yolk hard and unappealing.

Steaming helps cook the egg gently, so you have more control over the texture and can achieve your desired doneness without the egg becoming burned.

Instructions

To begin, warm a frying pan on a low heat for five minutes.

Add half a teaspoon of sunflower oil and a little slab of butter to the pan.

Wait for the butter to melt, and crack an egg into a small bowl. This helps reduce the risk of bits of shell getting in the frying pan and prevents you from breaking the yolk.

Slide the egg into the frying pan and cover it with a glass sauce lid.

Cook for roughly four minutes or until the egg has set and the yolk is still runny.

Once ready, sprinkle with a little bit of salt, and your tastier fried egg will be ready to eat.
