Maria Bartiromo argued one thing, but the Fox News ticker suggested another.
Fox personality Bartiromo on Tuesday was mocked for her spin on President Donald Trump’s controversial tariffs that have been directly blamed for causing a dramatic dip in the stock market.
As Bartiromo talked about Trump “looking from 30,000 feet above” and being fine with what he claims will be only a temporary “disruption” to the economy, the ticker showed share prices dropping, dropping and then dropping some more.
In less than two minutes of Bartiromo’s show, the market lost almost 100 points.
Bartiromo attempted to explain away the plunging market, putting it down to “companies and investors getting used to a new day, a new sheriff in town.”
Trump is luring “huge investments” to the United States, she added, claiming the rest of the president’s economic agenda is actually deflationary.
Critics on social media, though, thought the stark contrast between Bartiromo’s comments and the ticker “could be an ‘SNL’ skit” and more.
