Wife of late Hairy Biker Dave Myers issues sad update to fans

The widow of the beloved Hairy Biker , who passed away in February 2024 after a valiant fight against , has shared a poignant reflection on her grief journey.

Myers, a cherished English TV chef and presenter, gained fame through the series with Si King, and charmed the nation with his stint on in 2013. Over a year since his passing, Liliana Myers took to to reveal her emotional struggle with loss.

She candidly discussed how people navigate grief differently, sharing her own challenges and moments of struggle. In her moving post, Liliana recounted: “Three distinct experiences to report. I had my motorbike training yesterday and driving over there I was having thoughts of giving up.

“Because I’d made mistakes and wobbled before, and I did not want to waste anyone’s time on me. Mark, my instructor from Darbyshire motorcycle school, is the most caring person I met and he told me this.

“‘Lil, you can’t just give up now. So many people are looking up on you as a model. You now have a voice’. Boommm… that opened my eyes.”

She added: “On my way back from practice, I turned on the radio and suddenly my vision blurred. I heard myself speaking about Dave Myers, my late husband, and his BSA motorbike that will be auctioned at the Birmingham National Motorcycle Museum on March 26.

“I was not expecting that at all. I’d had some interviews before but never heard myself talking on the national news. And today I had to pick pictures from my phone picture file to send off to editors of my book.

“Literally went through thousands of pics with tears in my eyes. So many moments of joy, so many memories of happy times, and so many sad moments of pain and suffering.

“I thought I was in a good place, stable and safe with my grief contained. And no more tears. Yet these last days showed me different. Grief is not linear.”

The culinary journey of The Hairy Bikers first began with The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook, which was filmed in part in Romania. It was here that Myers met the woman who would become his wife; she was a hotel worker during his visit.

Their love story unfolded with time as connections remained strong – even with distance. Then a visit to the UK deepened their bond into romance.

, his partner recounted: “I was blown away by one tiny little thing. He picked me up from the airport. It was about midnight and he opened the fridge and he said, ‘What do you want me to cook for you?’

“I’d never ever in my life had a man cook for me. So that was the very first thing that just hit me. I was visiting as a friend, but from that moment on my heart just melted.”

Myers passed away at the age of 66 last year, leaving a void that’s been felt widely. Since Liliana has spoken out about her loss, the public has rallied around her, with countless messages of support pouring in on social media.

One person expressed solidarity, commenting: “Sending hugs – you are not alone.” Another echoed the sentiment, replying: “Liliana, everyone is with you, as is Dave.”

A third also wrote: “Grief has no timeline and it’s amazing how you have managed your grief being inspiring and positive, and we love you for that. But you are human with a heart and there will be these times. You are doing great and we are all here sending you love.”
