No one injured when RCMP officer discharged firearm during arrest
The Surrey Police Service is investigating a shooting involving RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit members on Tuesday afternoon.

According to SPS spokesperson Sgt. Tige Pollock, a man allegedly tried to steal from RCMP officers who were working on a case near 120 Street and 64 Avenue in Newton around 4:40 p.m.
He said the officers and suspect had an altercation.
“During that altercation, a SPOSU member discharged their service firearm. No SPOSU members or members of the public were injured and SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Unit is leading the investigation into the incident,” Pollock said.
A man was arrested and is in custody.
