Poll reveals what Americans think of the royals – and Kate’s position will surprise you

Americans have shared that the late Princess Diana is their most “favourable” member of the . In an interactive poll conducted by , fans were asked what Americans really thought of the Royal Family last year. As reported by the , Americans also revealed what member they found most “favourable” – with members both dead and alive included in the poll.

Explaining why Americans are obsessive royal fans, entertainment journalist Eric Carlson compared reading “supercharged celebrity news” to watching reality shows. He told : “It makes a reality show out of William and Kate, and Harry and Meghan and Charles and Camilla.”

Coming out on top, 76 percent voted the late Princess Diana – who died aged 36 in 1997 – as “very or somewhat favourable”.

The late Queen Elizabeth II – who died aged 96 in 2022 – ranked in second place, with 67 percent votes as “very or somewhat favourable”.

ranked in third place with 58 percent, whilst came out in fourth place. Ranking just one spot above his sister-in-law, Harry received 53 percent of votes.

now resides in America with and their children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. The couple stepped down as senior working royals in 2020.

The Princess of Wales, who is often dubbed as one of the most popular members of the Royal Family, received only 52 percent of the votes from the American public.

, who was born and raised in the US, ranked in the seventh place. The 43-year-old received 46 percent of the votes for “very or somewhat favourable”. Her ranking came just under Princess Anne – who is often known as the hardest-working royal – who received 47 percent of the votes for “very or somewhat favourable”.

The royal who received the lowest vote was the disgraced . The 65-year-old stepped down from royal duties back in 2019 over his friendship with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Other royals who received votes for “very or somewhat favourable” include King Charles [42 percent], Prince Edward [37 percent] and Queen Camilla [30 percent].
