Waitress Gabrielle Harlan, who will welcome her first child in April, shared on TikTok that a Hooters customer recently gave her a 50% gratuity simply for keeping his drink filled — what she referred to as the “bare min.”
The Illinois mom-to-be added that, in general, her earnings have been “a lot higher” since she started showing. Apparently, this is a common occurrence at male-frequented establishments.
“They told me they love hiring pregnant girlies at the hooters in Vegas (I was pregnant),” one person wrote in the comments.
Added another, “I worked as a bikini barista when I was pregnant. Girl, the amount of money made?? UNGODLY.”
In 2022, an expectant Hooters waitress went viral on TikTok after she fetched more than $400 in tips. She shared that one gentleman had a bill totaling $20.83. However, when it came time to pay, he handed her a $100 bill and told her to keep the change.
When Harlan reached the six-month mark in her pregnancy, she received a maternity uniform from Hooters, consisting of a black T-shirt and matching shorts. If you’re surprised to hear that the restaurant chain offers such an option — you’re not alone. Harlan was inundated with reactions from followers who had no idea.
The restaurant chain’s classic attire includes a snug-fitting top and orange booty shorts that “can be uncomfortable as your belly gets bigger,” Harlan noted on TikTok. She described the maternity version as “very stretchy and super soft.”
According to Hooters of America, the maternity uniform isn’t just for expectant moms.
