Billy Joel’s forthcoming concert dates, including his much-anticipated performances at Anfield Stadium and Murrayfield Stadium, have been pushed back on medical grounds. Liverpool FC has confirmed that the current tour will be postponed to give the music icon time to recuperate after his recent surgery.
The club’s official statement revealed: “Liverpool FC can confirm the postponement of this summer’s Billy Joel concert at Anfield, due to a medical condition and to allow him to recover from recent surgery. That date has been rescheduled, and Billy Joel will now appear at Anfield on June 20, 2026 instead. He is expected to make a full recovery and the tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.”
Expressing his regret over the need to shuffle his schedule, Billy Joel stated: “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”
The ‘Piano Man’ was originally slated for Saturday, June 21, 2025, to perform at Anfield as part of a limited number of European appearances this year. He was also due to perform in Edinburgh at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
Due to the postponement, Joel will take a four-month break from touring to undergo physical therapy under his doctors’ guidance.
Fans who purchased their tickets via LFC will still be honoured for the new concert date. According to the Liverpool Echo, ticket holders will receive direct email communication on Wednesday, March 12.

Other concerts booked at Anfield this summer are set to go ahead as planned, with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band lined up for June 4 and June 7, pop sensation Dua Lipa dazzling the crowd on June 24 and June 25, and Lana Del Rey captivating fans on June 28.
Concerns rose among Billy Joel’s fans after the famed singer had an onstage accident. The 75 year old musician was performing at Mohegan Sun resort in Stamford, Connecticut, US, on February 22, 2025.
Towards the finale of his show last weekend, while delivering his classic ‘It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me’, Joel usually adds flair with a microphone stand twirl.
Unfortunately, things went awry as he fell backwards following a toss of the microphone offstage. An eyewitness at the event reported to SWNS news agency that Joel seemed “visibly thrown off” after being assisted back to his feet by his band members.
The attendee recounted: “He looked frail hobbling across the stage. At one point, he was using the microphone stand as a cane. I was really very concerned about him throughout the concert.
“Before he fell, I said to my friend ‘he’s going to fall’ and then he did. The venue gasped when he hit the floor. He definitely looked thrown off but somehow he managed to finish the show with a final song.
“I’ve been a massive fan of Billy Joel since I was young, so it’s quite worrying to see him like this,” added the fan. Despite the mishap, the enduring spirit of the singer shone through as he concluded his set with a last tune played on the piano, thus signalling an end to the evening’s performance.
Since 2019, a total of seven artists have performed at 11 concerts at Anfield, attracting nearly half a million visitors to Anfield and injecting over £31 million into the local economy.
