McDonald’s recently announced that . The popular dessert drink is loved by McDonald’s fans in the United States and is also available in the Republic of Ireland around this time of year to . However, UK McDonald’s customers will soon be able to get their hands on them, but only for a limited time.

But what exactly is a Shamrock Shake? Well, I found that it was rather simple to make for myself at home. I decided to grab ingredients to make my own dupe of the popular shake. I simply blended them all up and added some cream on top. The Shamrock Shake, McDonald’s says, consists of “peppermint-flavoured syrup blended with a creamy milkshake base”, and is green in appearance to make it stand out . From making it yourself to when you can get it in McDonald’s, here is everything UK customers need to know about the Shamrock Shake.

Don’t miss…

McDonald’s’ Shamrock Shake will be available to customers in the UK from March 12 until March 25 to mark St Patrick’s Day, which happens on March 17.

However, the sweet drink will only be available while stocks last as a press release from the fast food chain says that once it’s gone, it’s gone.

“For all mint-obsessed fans out there, this is your time to shine!” the press release reads.

Don’t miss…

Here are the ingredients I used to make my own Shamrock Shake at home:

Three scoops of vanilla ice cream

Two tablespoons of heavy/double cream

One teaspoon of mint or peppermint extract

Six drops of green food colouring

And I’m happy to report that it tasted just like the real thing. Plus, it only took me a few minutes to throw together in the blender.

Simply blend all of those ingredients together and pour into your glass or container. To top it off, I added whipped cream and sprinkles, which should probably be green if you’re really going for the St Patrick’s Day theme.

If you plan to mark the Irish holiday this year, this might be an ideal treat to make, especially for the kids.
