presenter has broken his silence following his absence on the breakfast show. From Monday to Wednesday, the Northern Irish broadcaster usually front the morning show alongside his co-host Ellie Costello.
But this week, fans woke up to a cast shake-up after the dad-of-four was replaced by Stephen Dixon, who usually presents the programme from Thursday to Friday alongside Anne Diamond. Sharing a snap of him eating an ice cream in the sunshine, he cheekily captioned the post: “Even my mouth wasn’t big enough for this ! [ice cream emoji, sun emoji] Love an ice cream” which he signed off with a kiss.
It didn’t take long before fans flooded to the comments to pass on their well wishes online. One user penned: “Enjoy, missing you at breakfast” which he replied: “A few days off Lynda. Pacing myself [smiling tongue out emoji].”
Another agreed: “Love you Eamonn. I love an ice cream too. With sprinkles. Thank you for bringing joy to our screens each morning on GB News. Makes my day so much better. Take care of yourself” to which he simply replied with three prayer emojis. A third echoed: “Really missed you this morning just wasn’t the same without you, hope you’re back [soon] [cry-laughing emoji].”
It comes after Eamonn shared some supportive words for his co-star Ellie Costello after she made an honest confession on the morning programme. During the show, Eamonn mentioned that there is a bin strike in Birmingham and said that while strikes are often condemned, he is in full support of them.
The 65-year-old revealed that he previously spent two weeks on a TV show where he worked as a bin man and came away from it realising how “filthy” people are. He declared: “Absolutely filthy. People dump mattress on the side of the road, people drop all kinds of awfulness into their bins and beyond. You don’t want to know.”
Ellie, 31, then chimed in with her own experience, telling her co-star: “My bins are always overflowing, they don’t come often enough”. She explained that she has to stand on her bins every two weeks because they get so full, specifically with cardboard boxes from her online orders.
She added: “Do you know what I did the other day which I am ashamed to say, when I got in the taxi at three o’clock in the morning, I took a load of recycling and put it in the neighbours bin in the middle of the night.” Eamonn assured his co-host that she didn’t need to worry, responding: “What they don’e know doesn’t hurt them.”
GB News’ breakfast show airs everyday from 6am on their GB News website.
