Chris Pratt says he relied on his faith after his oldest child, 12-year-old son Jack, struggled as a premature baby.
The “Electric State” star recalled to the Christian Post that Jack weighed just 3 pounds, 10 ounces when he was born seven weeks early in 2012.
Pratt and his then-wife, Anna Faris, could only “briefly” hold their newborn son, who was kept in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for a month.
“He had all of these issues going on,” Pratt told the publication. “I prayed hard to God. I was in a season of transition spiritually at that time and didn’t quite fully understand. I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for your grace again.’”
Pratt added that after God “saved” his son, his faith was “cemented.”
Though Pratt and Faris parted ways in 2017 after eight years of marriage, the couple have continued to co-parent Jack together.
The former couple have also both moved on to find love with new spouses.
Faris and cinematographer Michael Barrett eloped in 2021, while Pratt and his second wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, tied the knot in 2019 after meeting at church.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger have welcomed three kids together: daughters Lyla, 4, and Eloise, 2, and a son, Ford, who arrived on Nov. 8, 2024.
In August 2024, Pratt celebrated his son Jack’s 12th birthday when he shared several adorable images on Instagram that showed the father-son duo spending time with animals at a farm.
