Wales’ hopes of avoiding a second consecutive Wooden Spoon in the Six Nations have been dealt a blow because they have been hit by injuries to wingers Josh Adams and Tom Rogers. Scarlets’ Rogers was forced off the pitch just 10 minutes into the game against Scotland, and it has now been confirmed that he has fractured his thumb and will need surgery.
Cardiff’s experienced winger Adams has also been released from the squad due to a hamstring injury sustained during training. Despite already losing Liam Williams to a knee injury, Wales will not be calling up any additional players to the squad ahead of facing England in Cardiff this Saturday night.

It is expected that Scarlets duo Ellis Mee and Blair Murray will keep their places in the starting line-up against England, with Gloucester’s Josh Hathaway likely to replace Rogers. Another option could be to move Max Llewellyn to the wing, where he performed well for Gloucester earlier this season, and start Joe Roberts at outside centre.
However, Matt Sherratt is unlikely to disrupt the centre partnership of Ben Thomas and Llewellyn, making Hathaway the most probable choice for the wing position.
