Vodka sauce has been having something of a moment over the last few years after model Gigi Hadid shared a for a pasta dish incorporating this delicious sauce. Since then, it’s continued to increase in popularity, and now there’s one that you can pick up from your local supermarket. Co-op has recently launched the first-to-market Mozzarella & Tomato Vodka Sauce Pizza, complete with crushed tomatoes, fresh British cream and a hint of vodka, alongside fior di latte balls and mozzarella petals.

Announcing the new launch Nicole Tallant, head of own brand at Co-op, said she hopes the new limited edition pizza shows they are “a destination for shoppers to explore the latest food trends”. She added: “We can’t wait for our members and customers to try the Irresistible Mozzarella and Tomato Vodka Sauce Pizza; it’s so delicious it is going to be a smash hit, just like the viral trend that’s been so popular on social media.”

While at £6.30, it may be a little bit pricier than a typical supermarket pizza, it is still a lot cheaper than heading to your local pizza joint. Plus, it is the only vodka sauce pizza available in UK supermarkets.

And hearing about Co-op’s new launch, I just knew I had to give it a go, especially having liked vodka sauce pizzas I’ve tried previously.

Like many others who have tried the sauce, I’ve become particularly fond of it and the extra kick it offers that is missing from plain tomato sauces.

The benefit of Co-op launching their own vodka sauce pizza is that you just need to pop it into the oven for 10-20 minutes, rather than wait 30 minutes to an hour for a pizza delivery, making it a perfect choice for lazy evenings in front of the TV.

Co-op’s pizza certainly lived up to the vodka sauce hype and made for a truly delicious dinner that I will definitely be purchasing again – my one request is that, hopefully, this ‘limited edition’ option becomes a mainstay of the brand’s pizza range.

The pizza was just as filling as it was tasty, making a great dinner – and if you wanted something lighter then just enjoy half the pizza with a salad, and keep the other half in the fridge to have a delicious lunch the next day.

The Limited Edition Co-op Irresistible Mozzarella & Tomato Vodka Sauce Pizza sits alongside Co-op’s seven existing deliciously authentic Italian wood-fired topped pizzas: Irresistible Margherita, Irresistible Salami Calabrese, Irresistible Carbonara Bianca, Irresistible Chicken Arrabbiata, Irresistible Pepperoni and Hot Honey, Irresistible Chianti Beef and Irresistible Vegetable Antipasti.
