expert David Harper was forced to apologise to his co-star Tahmina Ghaffar. The newcomer, an expert in Islamic and Indian art, made her debut on the programme last week. Tahmina faced off against David in an intense five-round contest, with the duo hunting for treasures around Lancashire and Greater Manchester with a strict budget of £200.
While Tahmina unearthed diverse finds like an old fencing set and a brass chest, David leaned towards selections such as a spice box and a Royal Doulton collectable. David, however, landed himself in hot water after referring to Tahmina as an “interesting creature” and jokingly questioned: “Have you ever been to an auction before?”

Inciting a witty comeback, Tahmina retorted: “David, don’t you know I work in auction?” which swiftly led to an apology from her co-star who said: “I forgot I’m so sorry.”
Tahmina faced challenges early on at auction, voicing her dismay after her brass crocodile fell short in value. The auctioneer agreed that the price was surprisingly low at £18. The course of the show didn’t turn in her favour, leading Tahmina to remark to David: “I did a lot of trash talking for someone who’s not doing very well today.”
Her brass cauldron and jelly mould failed to make a profit, with the latter going for a mere £10, leading her to remark: “Oh dear, here we go again.”
In a tense final bid to reverse her losses, Tahmina’s fencing set sold at a significant £53 loss. Her total loss for the week amounted to £123.24, marking a tumultuous beginning for the newcomer. Meanwhile, David managed to impress Tahmina by turning a tidy £27.70 profit.

Despite Tahmina’s rocky start, as many took to social media to compliment her knowledge.
“New girl knows her stuff, very good so far but the auction is the litmus test,” one fan declared as a second added: “Tahmina is a very cool addition to the lineup of experts – I think her purchases today would have done better in an auction further south – some great buys all round though.”
Another agreed: “Been watching your Antiques Road Trip on @ 1 at 4.30pm this week with Tahmina Ghaffar. Thoroughly entertaining, educational and enjoyable.”
Tahmina, who hails from London, currently leads the Islamic and Indian art department at Chiswick Auctions. She previously worked in finance before transitioning to a career in antiques.
