Prince Edward has a ‘hidden talent’ royal fans are only just learning about.
The turns 61 today (Monday, March 10), and eagle-eyed royal fans have rediscovered a video where he unveiled a little-known skill unrelated to his royal duties. Many members of the have had separate careers outside of the Firm– both and served in the military.
Edward, however, took a slightly different route. Accompanying a video of the Duke posted to , account @realroyaltydocs wrote: “Did you know about Prince Edward’s short stint in television?”
In the clip, Edward could be seen presenting what appeared to be a documentary. He said: “Since the days when this was the ancient Kingdom of Anglia, the people who lived here have had a long and complex relationship with the Crown and regal authority.
“Just how long was revealed here at Sutton Hoo, when the oldest royal burial site in Britain was discovered.” Edward goes on to explain the history of the 1,300 burial site which, according to the clip, was discovered in 1939.

Edward explained the team of amateur archaeologists initially thought they had only found a ship, but what they ultimately discovered was much more impressive. “Ship burials have, of course, been found, but none so impressive as this,” he narrated.
The clip was taken from the series Crown and Country, first released in 1998 and available to stream on Amazon Prime and Apple TV+. His other TV credits include The Grand Knockout Tournament, informally known as It’s a Royal Knockout, which was criticised by royal fans upon its release in 1987.
In 1993, he founded the production company Ardent Productions, under which a number of dramas and documentaries were created. Edward even had a brief career in the theatre, having worked as a production assistant on musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Starlight Express, and Cats with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Theatre Company.
Commenting on the clip, one person wrote: “I wish we could see more of Edward. I hope he is doing well.” Meanwhile another agreed: “He did a great job! I’m impressed! Hosting and voice over is not easy.”
A third added: “Pity it was short lived. They were interesting and Edward was great at presenting!”
A fourth chimed in: “He is an amazing presenter, I’m shocked.”
