Cold weather maps show 290-mile snow blast to hit UK with -7C temperatures

Latest show chilly wintery conditions are on the way. This comes after temperatures began to get warmer over the first week of March with Brits experiencing a taste of spring and summer weather.

However, warmer isn’t here to stay as on Wednesday, March 19, at 6am, maps from forecaster WXCHARTS show snow could be on the way. The will hit large swathes of Scotland and Wales – in England, it will mostly be restricted to the north. Most of these areas will see around 1cm of snowfall but in the Peak District, up to 6.5cm per hour of snow.

As for other parts of the country including the east of England and parts of Cornwall, these areas will be likely to see rainfall rather than snow.

In the Midlands and along the south coast, most of these areas will escape any rain or snow and look to be dry.

across the UK will be chilly with lows of -7C which will be seen in Scotland.

Down towards England, in the north, temperatures will be at 0C with the lowest at -5C.

Below Sheffield, the midlands and the south of England will see warmer temperatures of around 4C.

A long-range forecast says: “Friday will stay rather cool and showery, especially in northern and western areas, where more-persistent rain or hill sleet is possible for a time.

“Then, next weekend will continue on a cool theme, with high pressure to the north probably becoming more dominant, but still with lower pressure to the south.”

It adds that there should be a good deal of dry weather with spells of rain in the south from time to time.

The continues: “The following week (17th) is likely to see a transition to unsettled conditions, with Atlantic weather systems bringing wind and rain at times.

“The south and east could see the best of the drier interludes. Temperatures are likely to be below average at first with frosty nights, then above average later.”
