Lorraine Kelly forced to issue apology as GMB’s Susanna Reid intervenes over rude blunder

was left utterly red-faced after she was forced to issue an apology for her “raunchy and sweary” outburst on . During Monday’s visit (March 10) to the studios, and Ed Balls woke up the nation with the latest stories hitting the headlines.

This included King Charles III’s annual message for the Commonweath Day’s 76th anniversary and Trump claiming US economy is in “transition” as the trade war escalates. Later on in the show, the dynamic duo welcomed the Scottish broadcaster onto the programme to discuss the latest showbiz news dominating the tabloids. This included Dancing on Ice’s axe fears and the ongoing James Bond race.

But one story forced fans to do a double take after Lorraine suffered a mortifying slip-up live on air. Towards the end of her segment, the 65-year-old presenter discussed the latest adaptation of Agatha Christie’s crime thriller, Towards Zero.

The new series left viewers shocked as it aired a very raunchy sex scene, with Neville Strange, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen, romp with his ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland).

The X-rated scenes saw him corner her on the staircase and lift her onto his shoulders before putting his head up her skirt to perform oral sex.

Lorraine said to Susanna and Ed: “So David Suchet is coming, I’m just wondering what he makes and what Poirot would’ve made of Towards Zero the new Agatha Christie, it’s called Sh*gatha Christine apparently…”

Susanna jumped in and said: “I beg your pardon?” as Lorraine asked: “Am I allowed to say that?” Ed bluntly told her: “No.”

Lorraine said: “Anyway, I apologise, and I apologise again to myself, anyway it is raunchy! I don’t think think that you need it, I think the story is fine. Sorry about that,” as Ed told her she had “livened the show up”.

Susanna jokingly told viewers that “this is what Lorraine is really like” following her interview in the Guardian where she said she is “more sweary” off air.

GMB airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
