Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers’ wife details emotional ‘last journey’ as she issues update

Dave Myers’ wife Lili has opened up about the star’s emotional ‘last journey’ as she revealed that fans have the opportunity to buy his motorbike.

The popular TV star died in February last year, aged 66, after losing a cancer battle. Now, the bike ridden by Dave, during the making of the Hairy Bikers TV show, will be heading to auction on March 26.

Appearing on Breakfast on Monday (March 10) morning, in a pre-recorded interview, Lili was joined by reporter Jayne McCubbin as she walked into the bike shop and she said: “Gosh look at that. It’s wonderful to see it again.”

Lili went on to say: “He was so excited about it because just a few months before he never thought that he would ride a bike again.”

She admitted: “Of course I was delighted that he was able to do it again. This was his last horse and it was with him on his last journey. He was like a little kid in a toy shop, whenever there was a whiff of some adventure.”

The bike was featured on the final series of Hairy Bikers, where the star was seen alongside his sidekick, Si King as they reunited to travel down the west coast of the UK, starting in Scotland and ending in Devon.

Shortly after Lancashire-born Myers’ death, the pair’s final ride was broadcast to the nation in a fitting tribute to the star.

The BSA Goldstar has a retail price of around £8,000, with hopes of the sale reaching over the £10,000 mark. The proceeds will go to two charities close to Myers’ heart – the NSPCC and the Institute for Cancer Research.

A BSA spokesperson said: “By taking part in the auction, you’re not only giving yourself a shot at owning a piece of Hairy Bikers history, but you’re also making a real difference. Join us in honouring Dave’s legacy and supporting two causes that are making the world a better place.

“Both charities were close to Dave’s heart, making this raffle more than just a chance to take home something special – it’s an opportunity to contribute to the causes he deeply cared about.”

Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on One and iPlayer
