boss saw his side all but end Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes on Sunday as the Red Devils at Old Trafford. But the Portuguese manager could still axe eight of his players who featured in the match as he looks to overhaul his squad in the summer.

United dominated for large periods against , with putting the hosts ahead at the end of the first half as he fired a sumptuous free-kick past Gunners goalkeeper David Raya. The visitors levelled through Declan Rice with 16 minutes remaining, but were lucky to escape with a point as Amorim’s team peppered their goal at the end.

United’s performance against would have pleased Amorim and may have given him an indication that his players are improving.

But the Red Devils have endured a nightmare campaign on the whole, and Amorim may show his ruthless streak in the summer transfer market by offloading the players who may not be able to take his team to the next level.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana isn’t guaranteed to be at Old Trafford next season after two underwhelming years in England. The Cameroon international has improved this season but still has a mistake in him and hasn’t been able to offer the consistency needed of a top keeper.

Victor Lindelof made a rare start against the Gunners in the absence of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez but is a bit-part player these days. And with his contract coming to an end in the summer, Amorim may send him on his way.

Fellow defender Diogo Dalot is one of United’s more reliable performers. But he was linked with a January move to Real Madrid and could make way for new signings in the summer if Amorim feels his head has been turned.

With Manuel Ugarte ruled out against the north London giants, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen started together in the Premier League for the first time since United’s 2-0 defeat to at the end of last year.

They performed well on the day but have underwhelmed for large parts of their United careers and epitomise United’s struggles in recent years. Amorim will be desperate to move both players on and build a solid platform in the middle of the park.

Alejandro Garnacho could also be up for grabs later this year, with the winger falling out of favour under Amorim in December, before forcing his way back into his manager’s plans.

Garnacho was linked with a move to and Napoli in January, and more teams could come in for him at the end of the campaign.

United have underperformed in the final third this season, with Joshua Zirkzee and both faltering in front of goal. Zirkzee and Hojlund have shown glimpses of their talents but won’t consistently fire their side to glory.

And Amorim may be willing to sacrifice both forwards this summer to raise cash for a goalscorer who can come in and make a difference.
