have released a fresh statement following a distressing incident on Sunday evening, where they responded to reports of a shooting in the Green Park Area of Talbot Green, South Wales, just after 6:10pm.
Officers and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service arrived at the scene to find a 40 year old woman with severe injuries.
Despite their best efforts, she was sadly declared dead at the scene.
A 42 year old man from Talbot Green has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held in police custody.
Several crime scenes have been established in the area and road closures are still in effect as investigations continue and evidence is collected. Detective Chief Inspector James Morris has sought to reassure the local community amidst likely concerns, stating that a team of seasoned detectives are working diligently to unravel the events of the tragic night.

In a statement issued early Monday morning, he said: ” I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.”
As of now, no additional information has been provided about the victim or the circumstances surrounding her demise. Both police and local politicians have implored the public to refrain from conjecture and allow the investigation to proceed unhindered, reports
Local residents had reported seeing a significant response from the emergency services immediately after the incident, with police vehicles heading to the area at speed with their blue lights on, alongside emergency support from ambulance personnel.
A police helicopter was also dispatched to the scene and was noted flying over Talbot Green at 18:30 on Sunday and circling the area before later returning to base in St Athan.
