Russia burns as Ukraine launches huge drone blitz in retaliation for Putin missile strikes

Ukraine launched a series of devastating drone attacks across several Russian regions in the early hours of Sunday morning. The strikes come in the wake of brutal Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure following ‘s decision to suspend military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv.

The US President is trying to apply maximum pressure to force President Zelensky to the negotiating table and to make major concessions while giving a free pass. ‘s drone blitz reportedly targeted industrial complexes and fuel depots across Putin’s .

An oil depot in the Chuvash Republic was targeted for the first time since the outbreak of full-scale hostilities in 2022, according to the governor, Oleg Nikolaev.

The Burevestnik oil depot lies over 900 kilometres (559 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

Residents in Lipetsk reported hearing multiple explosions close to the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant (NLMK).

NLMK is one of ’s largest metallurgical enterprises and produces steel and rolled metal used in military vehicles, armoured equipment, shipbuilding, and aviation.

Video images shared on social media channels appear to show several fires burning in the plant’s vicinity.

In further attacks, an oil depot in Ryazan was targeted for the fourth time this year. The refinery is one of ‘s largest and plays a significant role in fuel production.

NASA’s FIRMS monitoring system detected heat anomalies on the refinery’s territory at 00:46am and 01:07am on March 9, suggesting possible fires following the attack.

More drone attacks were reported in both the Kursk and Voronezh regions, with unverified reports suggesting a distillery in Buturlinovka was damaged.

Distilleries in have been known to produce ethanol-based fuels, which have potential military applications.

Video images shot from a passing car in the Kursk region show a huge orange fireball erupting after what appears to be a drone strike.

Ukrainian missiles also wiped out a Russian Pantsir air defence system in Kursk, with the moment of impact captured on video.

Finally, UAVs attacked a Lukoil fuel depot in Nizhny Novgorod region, with witnesses describing bright flashed in the sky.

Ukrainian drone attacks have disrupted Russian oil refineries, disabling approximately 10-15% of ‘s refining capacity and causing fires, equipment damage, and temporary shutdowns.
