Lady Gaga seems unfazed by all the hate “Joker: Folie à Deux” received to the point that she used her opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” to take a playful jab at the ill-fated film herself.
“Anyway, I’m an actor now. I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor. Films such as ‘Joker 2,’” Gaga said during Saturday’s episode. “Apparently, people thought it was awesome. Joaquin [Phoenix] and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst films of the year. So we won — for worst onscreen duo.”
Gaga starred in the 2024 “Joker” sequel as Harley Quinn. The film turned out to be a flop among critics and at the box office.
“But joke’s on them. I love winning things. My Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT, but it’s hurtful,” Gaga continued, nodding to the epic accomplishment of scoring an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
Elsewhere in the “SNL” episode, Gaga performed two songs, “Killah” and “Abracadabra,” off her latest album, “Mayhem.”
In January, Gaga shared a “simple” explanation about why she thinks the “Joker” sequel wasn’t a hit.
“People just sometimes don’t like some things,” the actor told Elle. “It’s that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. And you keep going even if something didn’t connect in the way that you intended.”
