Finding pretty beaches as temperatures begin to steadily increase could be as easy as walking outside your front door. Famed for being one of the longest and most stunning beaches, this hidden gem also holds the proud accolade of being called one of the best beaches in Europe, and it is found right here in the UK. This awe-inspiring beach stretches a whopping eight miles long, providing golden sands and views seen as far across as even the Channel.

Located in Carmarthenshire in , this beach has even earned some impressive comparisons thanks to its immense beauty. Cefn Sidan Beach in Wales is among the best thanks to not only its natural landscape but also its unique history including the many shipwrecks found across its expansive shoreline.

Alongside its obvious beauty, Cefn Sidan Beach earned itself a coveted Blue Flag award status.

Earning such prestige is no easy feat as this international award is only given to beaches, sustainable tourism boats and marinas that meet strict environmental, safety and educational criteria. 

It’s no surprise that Cefn Sidan Beach bagged such top honours as its even been compared to Californian Beaches including the golden coast, according to Pembrey County Park and Beach.

In fact, Cefn Sidan was also the first beach in Wales to achieve this coveted award and is described as being a nature lover’s dream.

There’s a host of outdoor activities surrounding this spot, making it a popular region for both UK and international visitors. 

These activities include hiking and cycling and endless exploring along its coastal paths, sand dunes and woodlands. 

According to West Wales Holiday Cottages, Cefn Sidan is one of “Europe’s best beaches”, well deserving a spot on your next UK adventure list. 

The beach has been described as being ideal for beachcombing and paddling and is the perfect place for family outings or weekend getaways.

Its name is translated to mean “silken back,” which is said to reference its smooth, fine sand that’s perfect for those leisurely coastal strolls. 

“The beach is stunning and my favourite part of the region by far with stunning views, we’ll definitely visit again in the summer,” wrote one review on TripAdvisor.

Another added: “All I can say is, what a lovely day I had here on this beach.”
