‘I’m a flight attendant – this is the secret area most don’t know about on an airplanes’

Many onboard may wonder where cabin crew go when they’re off duty, with one air hostess revealing what’s behind a curtain known as the secret restroom. This room is used by cabin crew on long-haul flights with the details of this secret area shocking many.

attendant Kaytee took to to further discuss this secret area in a clip that has since gone viral with over 1.3 million views. The TikToker gave this unprecedented glimpse into the room most passengers are oblivious to. The clip shows a dimly lit and very compact space located above the main cabin which lays entirely out of sight from prying eyes. For many passengers onboard a flight, the mystery that surrounds crew members vanishing mid-flight has always intrigued many.

Kaytee shed a light on where many cabin crew rest up when not working and explained in the video: “This is where we sleep on long-haul flights,” before showing off the tiny allocated bunk.

Inside, a bed is seen which is fully equipped with bedding, a thin mattress and a safety belt helping to secure anyone using this spot to relax in case of turbulence.

Kaytee describes the sleeping area as surprisingly comfortable – despite its tiny size.

Further discussing how well she sleeps in this confined space as being surprisingly comfortable and adding: “The turbulence actually rocks you to sleep. It’s like being in a cradle.”

The secret room is formally known as the crew rest compartment which is a hidden spot often found above the main cabin located in the upper fuselage of larger aircrafts.

This is the area where both flight attendants and pilots can rest their weary heads and where passengers are strictly forbidden from accessing. The room is hidden from passengers and includes a discreet entrance.

Inside, the features are minimal and include basic amenities required for resting, bunk beds and even air conditioning.

Social media users’ reactions to this hidden compartment which passengers can’t access under any circumstance caused quite the wave.

One described the room as resembling “a coffin” with another joking: “I’d need an escape plan before even getting in there.”
