ITV’s The 1% Club divided fans after a seemingly simple but perplexing question left many contestants and viewers baffled, leading to an early exit for a number of players. The popular Saturday night quiz challenges 100 contestants to answer 15 questions based on logic and common sense which has also been polled among the public, for the chance to win a staggering £100,000. The difficulty level is determined by the percentage of people who answered correctly.
Comedian and host Lee Mack was back at the helm for a brand-new episode on Saturday (February 8). The 40 percent question tasked players to answer: “How many different combinations are there of displaying four digits on one hand?”

The correct answer was five and graphics appeared on screen showing the different combinations.
Eight contestants got it wrong and it didn’t take long before fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to voice their frustrations online.
One said: “I’d argue only four ways to show four digits with one hand because it’s difficult to lower your pinky without your next figure lowering too #The1PercentClub.”
Another echoed: “While I know the answer to the question is technically correct – ‘How many different combinations are there to display four digits on one hand?’ With the answer being ‘five’ You try showing your ring finger with your pinky finger down – can’t be done! #The1PercentClub.”
And a third wrote: “Think question should have read ‘only’ displaying four digits.”

Elsewhere in the episode, a contestant names Zayna revealed that she had skipped her brother’s wedding in order to appear on the ITV game show. She laughed: “I’m missing my brother’s wedding to be sitting here.”
Lee Mack asked: “No you’re not! It’s today? It’s actually happening now? Oh my gosh that is terrible – I mean that’s brilliant, well done for your commitment! We’re not all judging you at all. Oh well listen, good luck, because now the pressure’s on. You’ve got to do well!”
Unfortunately, Zayna was eliminated in the 60 percent round. She said with her head in her hands: “I ran out of time! If I had one more second I would’ve got [the question right]! Just one.”
The host then shot back: “If you’d have had two more hours you could’ve made your brother’s wedding!”
