‘s new Netflix series has been savaged by Variety, widely seen as the bible and leading entertainment magazine, which compared the show to a “forced march”. With Love, Meghan aired on on March 4 – just weeks after it was postponed due to the devastating wildfires in LA.
In a brutal takedown of the new show, the publication paints the 43-year-old as a narcissist for whom “no amount of praise seems enough”. The review read: “The show plays out like a forced march, one in which Meghan’s guests must, as the price of getting to share an afternoon in a made-for-TV kitchen with her, praise her first.” In another dig at Meghan, the review concludes: “With Love, Meghan is made with a great deal of love—in the sense that the greatest love of all is the one that a person has for herself.”
:
As well as the US media, the Guardian made an equally brutal comment on Meghan’s show. The publication wrote: “It’s the lack of humour, irony, self-awareness and apprehension of the reality of this deeply unequal and apocalyptic world that makes With Love, Meghan so unlovable in the end.”
However, many fans of the show and Meghan have expressed their excitement following the release of the eight episodes. One fan wrote on social media: “I’m usually not into cooking /lifestyle shows but this one was absolute delight. The relaxed atmosphere and approachable recipes with beautiful scenery makes it must watch.”
Another said: “#WithLoveMeghan is such a sunny, fun show that looks gorgeous, great food and beverages, lovely tips on being a good hostess, but my favourite part was seeing her cook for/with friends and chefs!”
